What mimics ITB syndrome?
I recently treated a long-term client of mine who came in complaining of many of the classic indicators of iliotibial band syndrome - one of which being lateral knee pain, the other being this client's long history of ITB pain in the past. We all know there's no single test for ITB pain, which makes this client an ideal example of what indicators you can look for to confirm if the client's dysfunction is actually ITB syndrome or something else altogether. In this case, the real culprit turned out to be the short head of the biceps femoris, which mimics ITB pain just beautifully.
